Hello, hello! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Before I go any further, I would like to thank everyone who came out to the show on Saturday night. You guys and gals rock, and we can't tell you how much we appreciate the support. We had a blast hanging out with y'all, at Railhead, and can't wait to do it again!
So, what am I doing on here on a Monday? Well, today is a special day. Today marks the two year anniversary of Sand Dollar Rodeo. On this day, two years ago, I ventured out to Roanoke, Texas, with my guitar, to meet Roy Holliday for the first time. We jammed out on the first six songs, that he had already put together, talked a little about our goals, and by the end of the session, decided that we wanted to work together. Sand Dollar Rodeo was born, and we were off and running.
I honestly can't believe how fast the last two years have gone. It's been crazy. We've had our ups and downs, as any band does, but it's been a great adventure so far, and I can't wait to see what the future holds. I'm not going to go into a bunch of details on this post. If you want to check out everything that has been going on over the last two years, feel free to look through the blog archives, both here, and on Roy's show blogs www.royholliday.blogspot.com , or as Roy says, "You'll have to wait for the book" (lol). So, if you need an excuse to pop a cold one on a Monday, then here it is! SDR's two year anniversary!
We are also fast approaching the two year anniversary of the first SDR show (9/2/12). This date kind of got away from us though. We were planning on having a two year anniversary show, but we are guys, and you know how guys are about planning things. Not very good! So, if any of you are interested in hosting a two year anniversary party ha ha, let us know, and we will see about coming out and playing for you. September 2nd probably won't work this year as it's a Tuesday. But, we currently have an open date on Saturday, September 6th. You can email either Roy or I at the following email addresses roy@sanddollarrodeo.com or heath@sandollarrodeo.com or you can send it to info@sanddollarrodeo.com , if interested in hosting a private event.
There are no shows this week, but the band will be having a planning meeting for the new album, this weekend. Work on the new album is well under way. It is actually a pretty involved process though, so we haven't set a release date as of yet.
Ken and Josh had their first show with us on Saturday, and both did a fantastic job! I'm really looking forward to working with both of them. Trey was great, as always, and has really added another dimension to our sound.
Our next show is at Lake Weatherford Marina on Thursday, August 14th. It will not be a full band show. Instead, Roy and I will be breaking out the acoustic guitars and doing an "unplugged" show. Well, we won't actually be unplugged, but you get the drift, right?
Ok, that's all I've got for now. Hope you all have a great week. Thanks for reading, and I'll talk to you soon!
